Helping adults determine the next step in their careers.
Helping teens learn more about themselves to determine the next steps in their lives.
- Feeling stuck or unfulfilled at work?
- At mid-career, recently graduated, or just retired?
- Feel like you just woke up years later and realize you don’t enjoy your career choice?
- Have the sense that you want to do something else, but you don’t know what?
- Do you know a teenager who could benefit from a greater sense of their strengths and life priorities?
You have come to the right place.
At NextStep Career Counseling, you will receive short-term, practical, constructive sessions by a licensed clinical psychologist. I have over 20 years of experience with both adults and youth. I have been professionally trained as a career counselor and use authentic, research-based assessment tools.
What to expect:
NextStep Career Counseling is not about things you already know, like how to write a resume. Instead, we will explore your current concerns and help you find direction in what you want to do at this point in your life.
We will do that in a variety of ways. There are a couple of well-established assessment tools I will give you to take, as well as exercises to help you get clarity on things like your priorities, values, skills, interests, and history. All these would be addressed in the context of certain personality traits, which is an important part of career and life satisfaction that is usually overlooked.
Our sessions will be goal-oriented and there will be "homework" for you to do between some sessions (it won’t be anything rigorous or graded, and people usually enjoy it).
Clients report that the NextStep process is gratifying because it is so active and focused. They also frequently comment that the assessment tools and exercises are very positive learning experiences.
People leave NextStep Career Counseling with deeper personal insight and a greater sense of certainty, usually in the form of one or several interest areas they now want to pursue.
